THE GRASS ROOTS START HERE
GOVERNMENT IS OUT OF CONTROL
BRODHEADSVILLE: The quickest way to ruin anything is to get government involved in it. We need less government ---not more. Americans are sick and tired of government waste, high taxes and political corruption. We are tired of government interfering in our lives. We are tired of government telling us what to do and how to do it. The grass-roots movement to put Ross Perot in the White House proved that. Taking control of government away from the politicians and bureaucrats must begin at the local level --- the GRASS-ROOTS! The grass-roots is right here at the township, school district and county government levels. Local property taxes would be a lot higher if it weren't for those citizens who regularly attend and speak out at school board meetings, township meetings, and county commissioner meetings. But more citizens must attend these meetings to show the politicians and bureaucrats that we do not want more taxes. We do not want more government. The Pleasant Valley School District is proposing to spend some $65 million on construction projects --- including$1 1/2 million for an administration building and around $1million to buy and develop a 250 acre tract of land. Oh, and don't forget the tennis courts. That's a waste of our money. Taxes is not the only issue that concerns us. For example, consider the recent Monroe County circus regarding party bosses trying to control government. We, the citizens should be controlling government --- not party bosses. Then, of course, there are these big city ordinances that some township supervisors are always trying to sneak in on us. These kinds of ordinances are just plain out of place in the country. And there's still a lot of wide open space here in the West End. We stand only a small chance of affecting national politics, government and issues. But we can have a tremendous impact in what happens to us everyday at the local level. To have that impact we must not remain silent. We must speak out on the issues. We must attend township, school board and county commissioner meetings. We must get our message out. We must let our voices ring out
for freedom, for lower taxes and for less government. C 1992 Brodheadsville Pa. U.S.A
